Visibility in Miner Tracking Solutions

  • A common scenario involves achieving visibility, which means knowing the presence and location of individuals within a mine.

  • This doesn’t require pinpoint accuracy but rather awareness of the general area a person is in.

  • Zone-based tracking simplifies setup, making it cost-effective and reliable.

Attendance Registration

  • The primary task for miner tracking safety is registering entries and exits.

  • Entry/exit points are equipped with RFID readers capable of high-speed, simultaneous reading of multiple tags.

  • In larger mines, transferring groups of staff via buses is common, and every individual on board must be registered.

Fleet Management

  • Utilizing GPS technology to track the location of vehicles or assets in real-time.
  • Collecting and analyzing data related to vehicle performance, driver behavior, fuel consumption, and maintenance needs.
  • Ensuring vehicles adhere to local, regional, and national regulations, including emissions standards, safety guidelines, and licensing requirements.
  • Inventory Tracking: Managing spare parts and equipment inventory.
  • Asset Utilization: Optimizing the use of assets to prevent overuse or underuse.
  • Analytics: Utilizing data analytics tools to gain insights into fleet performance, cost trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Reporting: Generating regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for informed decision-making.

Digital Mine Tracking Suite

  • IoT Sensors and Wireless Network: Integrates Internet of Things (IoT) sensors for comprehensive data collection. Utilizes a wireless network for seamless connectivity in mining environments.

  • Real-Time Monitoring: Enables real-time monitoring of underground mine parameters for enhanced safety and operational efficiency.

  • Audio-Visual Alert Systems: Issues audio-visual alerts not only to workers inside the mines but also to officials at on-site locations, project offices, or remote centers.

Digitizing the mining Operations

Zone Based Tracking

Zone Based Tracking

Zone-based RFID in mining involves RFID tags worn by miners and RFID readers positioned at known locations within entries. Each miner’s tag transmits a unique identifier, and when the miner passes within the RFID range of a reader, the tag responds to the reader’s signal.

Reverse RFID Tracking

Reverse RFID Tracking

In reverse-RFID tracking, miners wear the reader, and RFID tags are fixed in known locations. This approach is cost-effective as RFID tags are inexpensive. Tags can be closely positioned for precise miner location compared to zone-based systems with readers spaced farther apart. The RFID reader, worn by the miner, transmits location data to the mine operations center (MOC) through a radio transmitter and backhaul communication system.
